Long referred to as "women's oil", the benefits of clary sage lie in its calming effects on the body and mind as well as in supporting emotional and feminine functions. Clary sage is often used in massage oils to soothe and relax the entire body. As a gentle addition to a care oil, clary sage helps with red and irritated skin.

Clary sage is helpful when a calm and relaxed state is required in our stressful, fast-paced society. Clary Sage is a good night time oil. In a diffuser, its lovely scent becomes an aromatic sleep aid. The essential oil is said to evoke feelings of clarity, sensuality, equanimity and calm and initiate deep emotional cleansing and relaxation.

Clary sage is also called nutmeg sage, Roman sage, scarlet, scarlet garlic and scarlet herb. It is a species of plant from the genus Sage in the mint family. The glandular, sticky plant exudes an aromatic scent, which is what the German name refers to.
