MAKE-UP FOUNDATION GUIDE: HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT FOUNDATION?
1. FOUNDATION BASICS
A Foundation Used to achieve a smooth and even complexion and to reduce color imbalances on the face. It thus creates a primer, "the white canvas", on which painting and make-up can be done.
Before applying your foundation, you should cleanse your skin and prepare it with a natural moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type. A First can be used, but is not mandatory. The preparation of the skin is crucial for the durability of your natural cosmetics foundation and the entire make-up.
The foundation forms the basis of your make-up, so choosing the right color is very important for the subsequent result. Make-up is beautiful when it emphasizes your individual beauty features and evens out irregularities - without making you look painted on.
2. THE CHALLENGE: FINDING THE RIGHT SHADE
Your skin undertone and lightness will determine the right shade of your foundation. The best way to test the right color is on your chin bar, and it's the right color if it blends into your natural, unvarnished skin and isn't visible. The final shade should also be coordinated with the neck and décolleté.
The better the color matches the skin, the less the make-up is visible. And the more comfortable you feel with your natural foundation. The greatest requirement of a make-up is to beautify and at the same time not be visible. The better the shade of the foundation matches, the more natural your make-up will look.
The lightness of your skin is usually easy to determine. The undertone of the skin, on the other hand, is often more difficult. Tanned skin is often easier to classify than light skin. The tone is most difficult to classify in the case of color-turbulent skin. Here it helps to focus on the forehead or chin. Differences in color on the neck and décolleté are also 'normal' and common. Our neck is usually lighter because it tans less.
There are basically two types of skin undertones: skin that tends to be yellowish (warm) and skin that tends to be reddish (cool). One speaks of a neutral skin undertone when one does not tend towards a yellowish/olive or reddish/pink coloring. In this case, it is a bit easier to find the right foundation, as a broader color spectrum goes well with a neutral skin tone. As a rule, yellowish and neutral foundations suit most people. Cool undertones are less common.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Caution: Don't be misled by redness on the face... because these can also be balanced with yellowish undertones. Reddish foundation undertones would emphasize them more.
Tip: Freckle skin stays natural if it is only covered to the extent that the freckles are still visible. Full coverage of freckles changes 'type'.
Note: MakeUp is not sunscreen! Therefore, it makes sense to apply sun protection in sufficient quantities before applying make-up.
3. WHAT CONSISTENCY DOES MY SKIN LIKE: CREAMY, LIQUID OR POWDERY?
The texture and ingredients of the foundation are also important. First of all, your own preference plays a role, but also your skin type. Because there are textures that are more suitable for some skin types than others. Not sure what skin type you have? This Guide helps you.
For example, a thick, rather comodogenic foundation can aggravate the condition of blemished skin and a powder foundation can unattractively emphasize dry areas and settle on dehydrated skin. A MATT FINISH IS KEY
If you have combination skin or oily skin prone to shine, you should opt for a mattifying and long-lasting foundation. Excess sebum causes unwanted shine and reduces foundation hold and performance.
Powder textures are ideal for absorbing excess sebum and giving the complexion a matte finish. For example, you can use the Mineral Foundation from Lily Lolo Select. It is oil-free, has a natural sun protection of SPF15 and effortlessly covers imperfections and light redness. The finish is wonderfully natural. The best way to wear the mineral foundation is with a Kabuki brush .
If you prefer a liquid Clean Beauty Foundation, we can offer you the Quinoa Water Foundation from Ere Perez recommend. It is a lightweight, water-based foundation with light to medium coverage. Like a cream, it instantly melts into the skin, leaving a matte finish.
The Natural Liquid Foundation by Nui Berlin is a nourishing foundation based on aloe vera with a creamy texture. The foundation creates an even, natural-looking complexion without clogging the pores. The coverage can be built up from medium to high and leaves a long-lasting, semi-matte finish.
FIX IT BABY
Once the foundation is applied, you should fix it with a setting powder. This greatly extends the durability of your makeup and gives it a matte finish. A very good, complexion-refining setting powder is, for example, Ilge von Und Gretel or the Silk Finish Powder from Manasi7. If you want a tinted powder, we recommend Tinted “Un” Powder by RMS Beauty. Throughout the day, the powders can be applied as a touch-up to achieve a perfect complexion.
First Or don't forget a moisturizing pad. It prolongs the performance of your Green Beauty Foundation and creates an optimal basis for a natural look.
For an even longer hold, we recommend the setting spray from Lily Lolo – a light spray that sets your foundation and prolongs its durability. Super easy to apply, just spray it onto the finished makeup.
5. FOUNDATION FOR DRY, MATURE AND COMBINATIONAL SKIN
Here you can find out what skin type you have.
IT SHOULD BE MOISTURIZING
If you have dry or mature skin, you should opt for a moisturizing and nourishing foundation. In this way you avoid dryness lines and the emphasis on dry spots and small lines. Powder foundations are not optimal because they absorb sebum and make the skin appear even drier.
We recommend a cream foundation like the Oat Milk Foundation Ere Perez or the Skin Equal Foundation by Mádarathat combine medium coverage with nourishing properties. Redness and bumps are easily covered without clogging the pores. The finish is natural with a slight (Skin Equal: rather stronger) glow.
Also the Un Cover-up Cream Foundation from RMS Beauty is ideal for drier skin types. It is moisturizing and melts into the skin, giving it a radiant and natural-looking finish. Another special feature of the foundation is its choice of colors - it is available in 16 shades.
BB CREAM FOR A NATURAL COMPLEXION
An alternative with lighter coverage but even more caring properties is one BB cream or CC cream to use.
Make sure you have a good foundation. A light one is ideal facial oil, a moisturizer or a Serum, which supplies your skin with sufficient moisture.
Work the foundation in thoroughly to prevent it from settling into lines or leaving dry patches. For example, a Blending Sponge or a Foundation brush help.
If necessary, do without the setting powder.
