Anima Mundis Ceremony-grade matcha. Each leaf is hand-picked with extreme care and carefully ground on millstones to ensure vital ingredients and a velvety texture.

Camellia Sinensis (Matcha) was once associated only with the elite samurai and aristocratic classes of ancient China and Japan. However, over the last few decades, as its numerous health benefits have been confirmed, matcha has gained widespread popularity.

Matcha tea is said to have numerous positive properties:

  • Anti-inflammatory - Since matcha is rich in antioxidants, we can benefit from its ability to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation.
  • Improve Metabolism + Lose Weight - Consuming matcha daily has been shown in studies to facilitate slight weight loss and support our metabolism.
  • More glow + anti-aging properties - Consuming matcha supports a healthy glow and its strong antioxidant properties can help combat the visible signs of skin aging.
  • Liver Health - Liver detoxification is triggered by increased antioxidant capacity in the body, and the phytochemicals contained in green tea further support this process.
  • Boosts Energy and Stamina - The unique combination of caffeine, nutrients and the magical amino acid L-Theanine can boost your energy and stamina.
  • Strengthen your immune system - Matcha contains above all a special antioxidant: catechins. Not only are they very powerful antioxidants, but they also have antibiotic properties that can strengthen the immune system and promote your overall health.
  • Improving heart health - Thanks to its high micronutrient content, consuming powdered matcha can have a positive impact on heart health.

What is Anima MundiWhat sets Matcha apart from others is its purity and originality. Made in small batches by a sustainable, fourth-generation family business in Japan. This matcha contains high concentrations of phenolic acids, quercetin, rutin, theanine and chlorophyll. Concentrations higher than other types of green tea.

  • Matcha of the highest ceremonial quality
  • Tastes wonderfully creamy, slightly nutty, with a balanced umami taste
  • produced in a family business in small batches in Japan
  • vegan, gluten-free, 100% certified organic farming
  • 42,5g = approx. 28 cups of tea (1/2 teaspoon per serving)

Note: Matcha can have a supportive effect, but it in no way replaces a balanced diet, physical activity, medication and/or a visit to the doctor.

If you go to a coffee shop and the matcha you are served doesn't have rich and bright emerald tones, it probably isn't ceremonial quality. Put simply, there are two main types or “grades” of Matcha: Ceremonial and Culinary. The biggest difference between these two is the time of year the tea leaves are harvested. It determines the special properties and intended preparations of matcha, which have been cultivated with great care by Japanese tea farmers for centuries.

Ceremonial grade matcha tea leaves are generally of higher quality and have a deeper shade of green, which is due to the higher concentration of chlorophyll in younger tea leaves. Culinary matcha has a more subtle color palette that comes from older tea leaves that have been in the sun for longer and become darker.

With a sweeter taste and often a higher price, Ceremonial Grade Matcha is highly prized for ceremonial purposes. Culinary matcha, on the other hand, is used in cooking and baking, and in modern cafes it is sometimes preferred for lattes and other milk-based drinks.

While the health benefits are relatively similar for most commercially available varieties, Ceremonial Grade Matcha has higher levels of caffeine and L-theanine (more on this below). Culinary matcha, on the other hand, often contains slightly higher levels of antioxidants and nutrients. Tea purists tend to favor ceremonial grade matcha grown during the first harvest season, or ichibancha, meaning "first tea." In the second and third harvest seasons - Ichibancha, "second tea", and Sanbancha, "third tea" - the older tea leaves are picked, resulting in more bitter notes and muted pigments for Culinary Grade matcha.

Camellia sinensis contains the amino acid L-theanine, which promotes the production of alpha waves in the brain that lead to relaxation (like cocoa). Both powerhouses are often associated with energy, when in reality they can help calm and relax the nervous system. And that's not all...

Promotes brain waves

In addition to being a powerful antioxidant, matcha contains the amino acid L-theanine, which promotes the production of alpha waves in the brain, which in turn contributes to relaxation. Alpha waves are associated with a meditative state that leads to crystalline clarity and increased receptivity. In clinical studies, alpha, theta, and beta brain waves have been found to increase within 30 minutes to 1 hour of drinking green and black tea, with green tea in particular improving alertness, attention, and overall cognitive function.

A daily dose of dopamine

Another consequence of L-theanine is an increase in dopamine production, which helps improve memory and can improve concentration and mood. A study published in the journal Nutrients to find safer natural alternatives to pharmaceutical antidepressants found promising results for matcha tea powder as an anti-anxiety and dopaminergic ally in the treatment of depression. Interestingly, the mice in the study that were exposed to social isolation stress experienced the antidepressant effects of matcha "mediated by activation of the dopamine D1 receptor," according to the researchers. They concluded that there is "strong evidence that matcha improves mood and mental health, depending on the psychological state of the individual."

Promotes serotonin levels

Serotonin levels, our body's natural depression fighter, are also increased by L-theanine. Hello, happy neurotransmitters! As one of nature's most concentrated sources of L-theanine, green tea has long been celebrated for its medicinal properties. But did you know that research shows matcha contains up to five times more of the amino acid than any regular green tea? This is because matcha is grown in the shade for a longer period of time, whereas regular green tea is exposed to direct sunlight for much longer, reducing its L-theanine content. Wondering how L-theanine can trigger increased serotonin (and dopamine) production? It promotes the transfer of precursor substances such as tryptophan, which supports the body's sleep-wake cycle (melatonin) and appetite, sleep, pain and mood regulation (serotonin), while promoting the liver's production of vitamin B3, which required for energy metabolism and DNA production.

Want to improve your mood, increase your energy, reduce inflammation, and boost metabolism (all possible causes of brain fog, by the way)? Allow us to (re)introduce you to matcha, known for its antioxidant content and proven to reduce the risk of dementia and other cognitive impairments in the elderly. Japanese researchers found that elderly patients with mild to severe dementia who consumed two to four cups of matcha daily for three months improved their short-term memory and performed better on dementia tests. Even in healthy adults, green tea can improve brain function and activity, including sharper memory and other improved cognitive abilities. It can also help with weight loss and lower blood sugar levels.

As you can see, there are numerous science-backed benefits to drinking green tea (matcha and other green teas). Here are some of our favorite reasons to drink matcha daily:

improving heart health

Thanks to the high micronutrient content in matcha, consuming these carefully cultivated leaves in powder form can improve your heart health. Numerous studies have shown that the plant compound EGCG contained in matcha greatly supports the cardiovascular system and prevents the accumulation of plaque, heart attacks and other related heart diseases.

Reduce inflammation

Because matcha is rich in antioxidants, you can also benefit from its ability to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. The flavonoids contained in matcha and other teas are said to have, among other things, the ability to reduce inflammation, prevent tooth decay and have antimicrobial effects.

Reduce your risk of cancer

You may have a lower risk of certain types of cancer, such as: For example, for prostate and stomach cancer, and some research suggests that EGCG could be used in conjunction with chemotherapy to help the treatment work. EGCG is particularly known for its cancer-fighting properties, and scientists have found that matcha contains almost 100 times more EGCG than any other tea!

Increase metabolism + lose weight

Daily consumption of matcha has been shown in clinical studies to support mild weight loss. Matcha also increases metabolism. Matcha tea in the morning is a great way to boost your metabolism and start burning calories. Studies have shown that matcha tea can boost fat burning in the body four times faster than average. This isn't particularly important on its own, but it does mean that matcha can rid your body of built-up toxins, which is hugely beneficial to your overall health.

Shiny skin + anti-aging properties

Your skin will thank you if you include matcha in your daily drink plan. Consuming matcha provides a healthy glow for the skin, and some studies have even shown positive results from using matcha. Matcha promotes anti-aging chemistry. Think of it as a magical elixir for your skin. Because matcha is so rich in antioxidants, it supports skin health by reducing inflammation and free radicals that contribute to accelerated skin aging.

Detoxify your liver

Liver detoxification is triggered by increased antioxidant capacity in the body, and the phytochemicals contained in green tea further support this process. Our ceremonial matcha also contains a high concentration of chlorophyll, a natural detoxifier and liver cleanser. Matcha can detoxify the body; Due to its high chlorophyll content, it is able to remove both heavy metals and chemical toxins from the body. Worth knowing: Chlorophyll gives matcha tea its bright green color!

Increases energy and endurance

Matcha also increases energy. Like all green teas, matcha naturally contains caffeine. However, the unique combination of other nutrients and the magical amino acid L-Theanine (that we keep talking about!) can boost energy and stamina for up to six hours.

Strengthen your immune system

Above all, matcha contains a special antioxidant: catechins. Think of catechins as the superheroes of antioxidants - not only are they the most powerful antioxidants available, but they also have antibiotic properties that boost your immune system and promote your overall health. Matcha tea is also rich in potassium and protein as well as vitamins A and C (also like cocoa)!

  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of matcha to a cup.
  • Add hot but not boiling water, stir well or foam until the powder is dissolved.
  • Enjoy 1-2 times a day!
