Marie Showerk is the founder of dieHaarbanduschi. Marie comes from Fulda and sewing has been a constant companion since she was at school. “Even as a child, I loved sewing with my grandma. I have been happily married to my husband Lennart since July 2017. Together we have two adorable children Lieselotte and Fritz and a little Maltipoo Lilly. In 2019 I had an unfortunate fall and tore a ligament. Really stupid at first, but it gave me time to sew again. Originally I just wanted to sew hairbands for myself. Hair bands that don't pinch or slip. But when these were so well received by friends, the idea for the hairbanduschi grew. How the name came about? My dear husband suggested it as a joke and I was immediately hooked!
All headbands, hairbands and scrunchies are sewn in Fulda. “We create jobs for seamstresses who want to earn extra money as young mothers, as single parents, nearing retirement or in retirement. The seamstresses can work flexibly from home. Everything fair, sustainable and local in and around Fulda."
No matter how many trends come and go, headbands and bands always seem to be the one. And this hasn't just been the case recently. The headband has been used as a hair ornament or as a functional accessory since ancient times. Hairbands in the Near East kept hair in check, while the laurel wreaths of Roman rulers have deep roots in Greek mythology. Then there are medieval tiaras and timeless flower wreaths, which came closest to today's headbands and headbands. If you look at old films, you quickly notice that headbands were already in vogue in the middle of the last century. Sometimes classic without a lot of frills, sometimes with pearls, sometimes in a rockabilly style. The headband has followed many fashion trends into modern times and thanks to Coco Chanel and Prada, the accessory has also made it onto the most famous catwalks in the world.
