• The biomimetic pentapetide 5, based on a sea anemone protein, helps to soothe sensitive skin and relieve irritation. The peptide has the ability to inhibit the pain receptor TRPV1, which is often responsible for sensitive skin. The leathery sea anemone's venom consists of proteins and peptides that interact with a variety of cellular targets. Scientists recently discovered a small protein called APHC1 in leather anemone venom that helps inhibit TRPV1 receptors in cells. Sensitive skin is often characterized by overactivity of the pain receptor TRPV1. The result is skin that can react strongly to harmless environmental stimuli with itching or even burning and redness.
