WF / 2020 Eau de Parfum is a new take on a secret patchouli formula from the 19th century by Catherine Selig.
Meinrad Hilfiger was a 19th century Maitre Gantier perfumer. His secret recipe manuscript was passed on from one generation to the next. With modern ingredients, his great-granddaughter has given the authentic perfume a contemporary interpretation. This modern twist on a timeless formula is comparable to the Hermès Kelly bag. Frequently reinterpreted, always keeping their original design treu remained.
Ambrette and fresh bergamot open up this fragrance. In the heart, fruity notes of pomegranate unfold, wrapped in soft, floral peony. The scent is rounded off by its characteristic notes of the finest patchouli, velvety leather and musk.
Ariellea Appelbaum: "Catherine Selig did not hold back when we stripped the shackles of the budget and used an ingredient that is more expensive than gold. Imagine a dark and cool morning in Grasse with French farmers harvesting a special rose before sunrise. They pick the delicate petals by hand while the fresh morning dew is still clinging to them, following a tradition that has been nurtured in their families for generations. The artisanal process with which they extract the oil from the flower petals by hand is just as old. It takes 1 ton of these rose petals - enough to fill a barn - to make just 1 kg of the rose you find in WF / 2020.
WF / 2020 was nominated for the prestigious "Perfume Extraordinaire 2020" award.
