The Apartment Eau de Parfum is a dark, sophisticated gourmand fragrance, a limited edition inspired by the elegance of a Parisian apartment.

The essence of Parisian chic - The Apartment opens with heady notes of sour cherry and rum to reveal a floral heart of tuberose grounded by rich cocoa. Smoky, supple aromas of myrrh and tolu balsam form the base, giving the fragrance a velvety warmth.

The perfume immerses the wearer in the ambience of an opulent Parisian city apartment, where the light falls through elegant velvet curtains and a cherry-red stained napkin next to a rum cocktail tells of the previous evening.  

Sustainable luxury - The Apartment is a limited edition fragrance made from sustainable, recycled ingredients. A modern reinterpretation of luxury perfume. The cherry and cocoa notes in The Apartment are upcycled, the fragrance molecules are extracted from waste water from food production using the patented "Symtech" technology.

As one of the first global fragrance houses Abel innovative biotechnology and recycled ingredients integrated into their Eau de Parfums. “We have always sourced our ingredients from nature and given them back to it. Biotechnology allows us to do this in a way that has low environmental impact and high performance," explains Frances Shoemack.

THE APARTMENT

Our perfumers Isaac Sinclair and Dr. Fanny Grau develop our fragrances in a Parisian apartment called L'Appartement Étoile, overlooking the famous Arc de Triomphe - one of Paris' most famous monuments. This office, which also serves as a laboratory, is an elegant setting for the development of luxury perfumes.

THE INSPIRATION

Our founder Frances travels to Paris twice a year to personally finalize each fragrance and work closely with Isaac and Fanny. In a moment of playful exploration, the apartment itself became the focus of a new creation as Frances and Isaac considered who might live in the apartment and what they would smell like - leading to the concept of a fragrance that would embody Parisian chic.

Capturing an elusive nostalgia or characterizing a person or place is a goal, or at least a starting point, in the creative process of fragrance development. When you wear The Apartment, you can become the imaginary person embodied by the fragrance - a form of escapism.

THE TECHNOLOGY

In The Apartment we use innovative, recycled cherry and cocoa notes that are byproducts of the food industry. The fragrance molecules are extracted from the water used in food production. These innovative ingredients are not only highly sustainable alternatives, but also beautiful, complex ingredients that were previously unavailable in perfumes. The cherry note is tart, juicy and complex - very different from the (synthetic) sweet cherry note that is often used in the perfume industry.

Creating natural perfumes often requires creative solutions to achieve specific notes - not every petrochemical ingredient has a plant-based counterpart. Developments in biotechnology offer us a wider range to choose from and solutions to long-standing challenges such as longevity, stability and consistency. Biotech ingredients are produced by fermenting plant sugars into fragrance molecules.

SUSTAINABILITY

True luxury is inherently sustainable. Something made from high-quality materials will stand the test of time, such as the parquet flooring or high-quality wooden furniture in The Apartment's eponymous city apartment.

In addition to using recycled ingredients in the fragrance formula, the packaging is also made from leftover materials - another way to reduce waste.
