Restricting sun protection to the hot summer months would be negligent. A lot of skin damage and a large part of the premature aging of the skin can be attributed to exposure to the sun. It is believed that over 80 percent of visible premature aging is caused by exposure to the sun.

Short-wave UV-B rays (280 to 320 nm) penetrate the top layer of skin, cause sunburn and are responsible for an increased risk of skin cancer. The longer-wave UV-A rays (320 nm to 400 nm) penetrate deeper into the skin. They reach the lower layers of the skin and can cause permanent damage to the connective tissue, leading to premature aging of the skin. Sun protection is essential!
