How do peelings work?
Peelings are smoothing agents with an immediate effect. In the case of peeling products, the cleaning effect is increased by adding very fine, slightly abrasive or rubbing substances (exception: enzymatic peeling). With conventional cosmetics mostly come synthetic particles (other word: MikroPlastik) for this purpose. In the case of natural cosmetic products, on the other hand, only natural substances such as finely powdered silica or clay, jojoba pearls or finely ground olive pits are used as abrasives.
As a result, peelings cleanse down to the pores and remove dead skin. The top layer of skin, consisting of dry and dead horny cells, is gently removed. At the same time, the skin is massaged, blood circulation is promoted and the formation of new skin cells is stimulated. The skin becomes smoother, rosy and fresher and is particularly receptive to care products after a peeling.
Special feature: enzymatic or chemical peelings
With enzymatic peelings, a chemical process replaces mechanical rubbing. In higher concentrations, fruit acids (chemically AHA alpha-hydroxy acid) have a keratolytic effect, i.e. they dissolve the connections between the accumulated, dead skin cells and thus promote their rejection. In addition, the acids contained - depending on the type and level of concentration - stimulate the skin's own collagen production, reduce fine lines and can even out pigment discoloration. With oily skin, fruit acids also prevent the formation of blackheads and blemishes. The complexion is refined and the skin appears clearer and fresher.
