Mineral sunscreen for natural UV protection

Mineral sun creams have a different mode of action than conventional chemical sun protection because they do without harmful chemicals and are therefore also suitable for pregnant women, small children, mothers and babies.

    The peculiarities of mineral sunscreen

Mineral sunscreen, also known as physical sunscreen, stays on the skin's surface and reflects harmful UV rays. The cream contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients. These minerals contain small particles that deposit on the skin and form a physical barrier. This barrier protects the skin and ensures the reflection of UVA and UVB rays.

Since the mineral sunscreen does not contain any harmful ingredients such as nanoparticles, octocrylene or benzophenone, they are suitable for Suitable for people with sensitive skin as well as for small children and babies. In addition, these additives are harmful to the environment and destroy coral reefs.

    The benefits of mineral sunscreens

The mineral sunscreen offers immediate protection after application, so you don't have to wait 15 to 30 minutes for its effects. You will also find mineral UV protection in our range, which protects sensitive children's skin from UVA and UVB rays, sunburn and premature skin damage with a highly effective mineral UV filter immediately after application. In addition, the mineral sunscreen is ideal for sensitive skin because, unlike chemical creams, it does not absorb. This makes it less likely to cause skin irritation.

In addition, the mineral sunscreen does not clog the pores as easily because it adheres to the surface of the skin and does not penetrate the skin. Above all, this also protects the eyes or other sensitive areas that can burn or become irritated.

UV protection is not only essential in summer

Sun protection for the face is important not only in summer. Even during the cold season, UV rays can penetrate and damage the skin below the top layer of skin. The collagens in the dermis, which are responsible for the elasticity of the skin, are particularly affected. However, if these are destroyed, their number is reduced and wrinkles appear. However, UV rays can not only cause cosmetic problems - in the worst case they can even cause skin cancer. It is therefore all the more important to protect the sensitive skin on your face from the sun.

Which sun protection factor is the right one?

In general, any sun protection factor (SPF or SPF) is suitable for any skin. The decisive factor here is the so-called self-protection time: It indicates how long the skin can protect itself from the sun's rays, i.e. without UV protection. Depending on the color of the skin, the self-protection time is shorter or longer. Here is the rule:

    • very light skin: 5 to 10 minutes
    • light skin: 10 to 20 minutes
    • medium brown skin: 15 to 25 minutes
    • dark skin: 20 to 30 minutes

This time is multiplied by the LSF to calculate the final protection time. This would be 30 minutes for light skin with an SPF of 300 (10x30 = 300). The skin would therefore be protected from UV rays for 300 minutes. Based on this, one can say: the higher the SPF, the longer the protection time. It is therefore advisable, even with dark skin, to use sun protection with a high SPF in order to protect the skin from the sun for as long as possible.
