    Tips for a gentle shave & a well-groomed beard

Wet shaving is the first choice for many men – thorough, clean, and classically masculine. Shaving foam, shaving gel, or shaving soap are used along with a sharp blade to achieve a particularly smooth finish. Since wet shaving is more stressful on the skin, it's especially important to use gentle, skin-friendly, and natural products.

    razor

Safety razors are a particularly sustainable alternative to disposable razors and conventional multi-blade razors with replaceable heads. Although the latter may seem more environmentally friendly at first glance, the replaceable blade heads are usually made of a combination of metal and plastic, making recycling difficult. In addition, the blades of such systems often become blunt quickly. This can not only lead to skin irritation and minor injuries, but also increase the risk of ingrown hairs.

razorSafety razors, also called safety razors, are usually made entirely of stainless steel or brass and usually use a single, extremely sharp steel blade. This stays sharp longer than the blades of conventional systems and needs to be replaced less frequently. However, there are now also safety razors with space for up to three blades, which can make the transition from a regular multi-blade razor to a safety razor easier.

While a safety razor may seem more expensive initially, the investment is worthwhile in the long run: The razors are extremely durable, and replacement blades cost only a fraction of the price of multi-blade systems. Furthermore, there's no plastic waste—a clear plus for the environment.

Tips for shaving with a safety razor

If you're using a safety razor for the first time, these tips will help make your shave safe and comfortable.

    • Take your time: the first few shaves with a Safety Razor will be a little slower than with a conventional razor.
    • Spread a small amount of shaving gel or lather shaving soap with a brush to prepare the skin well and make shaving easier.
    • Hold the safety razor at approximately a 30-degree angle to your skin. Don't apply any additional pressure; the razor will glide under its own weight.
    • Shave in short, gentle strokes in the direction of beard growth. Gently pull the skin taut with your free hand to create a smooth surface.
    • Moisten your skin with warm water as needed to renew the shaving soap and keep your skin supple.
    • After shaving: Rinse your face with cold water to close the pores. Follow with a mild, soothing facial Toner with natural extracts.

    Shaving

Conventional shaving foam from aerosol cans contains propellants that cause the foam to foam up when squeezed out of the can. These aerosols are bad for the environment and can dry out the skin. Shaving soap is an environmentally friendly alternative that works just as well as shaving foam and also conditions the skin during shaving. In addition, our natural soaps can be used for the whole face.

Shaving soaps prepare the skin for shaving in a particularly thorough and gentle way. Lathering with warm water and a shaving brush creates a thick, creamy lather. This coats the skin protectively and softens the beard hairs. The soap forms a smooth surface that reduces friction between the skin and the blade. This significantly reduces skin irritation, cuts, and razor burn.

Our natural soaps contain plant-based oils such as wheat germ, safflower, olive, castor, grape seed, and shea butter. These soothe the skin, moisturize, and prevent it from drying out during shaving.

    Do you need an aftershave?

For many men, aftershave is considered essential. Its high alcohol content is intended to disinfect the skin, clean minor cuts, and prevent inflammation. However, alcohol also has disadvantages: It can dry out the skin, cause an unpleasant burning sensation, and disrupt the skin's natural barrier.

Instead, we recommend a mild facial Toner with natural extracts of witch hazel, rosemary, marshmallow, sage, or thyme, which have antibacterial and soothing effects. Toners gently cleanse the skin after shaving, have an astringent effect, and optimally prepare it for subsequent care. You can then apply a moisturizing serum or soothing face cream to regenerate, strengthen, and supply the skin with essential nutrients.

    Beard oil and pomade

Not every man likes the clean-shaven look: anyone with a beard shouldn't neglect proper care. A high-quality beard care oil ensures that your beard stays soft, supple, and healthy. It not only nourishes the beard hair but also the skin underneath, prevents itching, and provides a pleasant fragrance.

Pomade tames unruly hairs and gives the beard a defined shape. It provides hold, structure, and a well-groomed finish, a real advantage, especially for longer or thicker beards. At the same time, it gives the beard a subtle shine without making it look greasy.
